The Wichita Falls Adult Literacy Council is having its annual book sale this weekend (March 4-7). Thursday is a preview night ($5 at the door) starting at 5 p.m. It continues from 9am to 6pm Friday and Saturday and 1pm to 5pm on Sunday (Free Admission). Hardcovers are $1, paperbacks are 50 cents. They have children's books and lots of great old books good for cutting up and crafting. Location: Sikes Lake Center, Midwestern State University, south of the new Wellness Center.
Why:
Funds are used to provide literacy instruction at no cost to low-level adult readers and to provide newspapers for area school classrooms at no cost to the children or their teachers. Approximately one in four adults has low-level literacy skills.
WALC is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) agency. The book fair is one of two major fundraisers we conduct each year…the other the Adult Spelling Bee in November.
